Vodafone Launches World’s First Merry Christmas SMS on NFT
British telecommunications giant Vodafone plans to auction the world’s first SMS in NFT format on December 21.
SMS contains congratulations, “Merry Christmas”. It was emailed 29 years ago via the Vodafone network on December 3, 1992, and was received by Richard Jarvis, an employee at the time.
According to Ziarul Financiar, the SMS will be auctioned as NFT as part of a one-off sale by Aguttes in France.
Vodafone intends to redirect proceeds from the auction to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UN Refugee Agency) to help internally displaced persons.
In the online auction, participants will be able to place bids using Ethereum (ETH).
