Ukraine Intends to Join the European Blockchain Partnership

Representatives of the Public Union “Virtual Assets of Ukraine” and the inter-factional association of deputies Blockchain4Ukraine sent official letters to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the administration of the President of the European Commission Bjorn Siebert and the adviser on digital policy at the European Commission Anthony Whelan with a request to include Ukraine in the number of full members of the European Blockchain Partnership (EBP).

According to ForkLog, back in July 2021, Björn Siebert announced the readiness of EBP member states to explore the possibility of granting Ukraine observer status in the organization, but the Ukrainian initiative group proposes joining the country as a full member.

The authors of the letter noticed that blockchain technologies not only will contribute to the restoration of Ukraine after the end of the war with Russia through the provision of cross-border public services but will also accelerate it, as well as support Ukraine’s further integration into the European Union.

The authors of the letter noted that the law “On virtual assets” signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky indicates the country’s commitment to become one of the European blockchain leaders.

EBP members get access to the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI). It includes cross-border electronic services, including mutual recognition of diplomas, driver’s licenses, apostille cancellation and notarization of documents.

On February 24, Russia carried out a paramilitary invasion of Ukraine on several fronts, shelling Kharkiv, Kyiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia and other cities of various calibres.

The Ukrainian army is holding back the invasion of the enemy. From the hottest spots, the civilian population is trying to evacuate to other cities or even countries.

The world community organized to help the refugees and the Ukrainian army. Only the crypto community has transferred billions of dollars to help Ukrainians.

The BTC-Alpha team together with trusted volunteer communities created a charity fund ‘‘Alpha for Ukraine’. You can make a donation to help everyone in Ukraine who needs medicines, humanitarian aid and to support the defence of the country.
