Ukraine Accepts Donations in $DOT. Gavin Wood Pledged to Contribute $5M
Since the beginning of the Russian paramilitary attack, Ukraine has greatly expanded its ability to raise charitable funds to help its population and army. One of the recent innovations is the addition of the official Polkadot (DOT) cryptocurrency wallet.
The creation of this wallet is likely due to the fact that Gavin Wood, the creator of the Polkadot blockchain project, promised to personally donate $5 million in DOT to Ukraine if an appropriate cryptocurrency address appears.
According to Polkadot Subscan, the wallet holds approximately 10,588 DOT, at the time of writing, totalling over $198,470.
Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the crypto community has been able to collect and donate millions of dollars to various charitable organizations to help the Ukrainian population and army.
The BTC-Alpha team together with trusted volunteer communities created a charity fund ‘‘Alpha for Ukraine’. You can make a donation to help everyone in Ukraine who needs medicines, humanitarian aid and to support the defence of the country.
