Twitter Gave Access to “cryptocurrency tips” to All Users
Social media giant Twitter has launched a new feature allowing users to tip and receive cryptocurrency tips.
In a blog post, Twitter’s in-house product manager Esther Crawford announced that the crypto tip feature is now available to all iOS users around the world, and the platform plans to make the feature available to Android in the coming weeks. Thanks to the innovation, users will be able to link their Cash App, Patreon, Venmo, Chipper, Bandcamp, Razorpay, GoFundMe, PicPay and Wealthsimple Cash to Twitter accounts and individual tweets to receive funds.
Tipping on Twitter can be paid using the Bitcoin Lightning Network (BTC), which sends the payment using the Strike app or by adding a Bitcoin address directly to your profile.
Previously, Twitter users could tip in fiat currency using more traditional payment services such as Square’s Cash App and PayPal’s Venmo. Twitter has decided to integrate Strike Bitcoin wallets so that creators can tip and receive Bitcoin tips. The company will also allow users to add their Bitcoin addresses to send and receive cryptocurrency as tips. Twitter does not intend to charge a commission for tips.
In addition, Twitter said they are also working on a feature that will allow users to authenticate and showcase their NFT collections on the social network. However, the company has not yet provided more details.
