The First Block of Bitcoin Was Mined 13 Years Ago

The first block of Bitcoin with 50 BTC, which was later called genesis, was mined on January 3, 2009, by a person or a group of people under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. From that day on, the main Bitcoin network was launched.

According to Forklog, the hash of this block contains the title of the article “Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks” by the British edition of The Times.

The first transaction took place on January 12, 2009, when Satoshi Nakamoto sent 10 BTC to Hal Finney. And three days before that, Bitcoin software version 0.1 was published.

And although the identity of Nakamoto and the motives behind the creation of Bitcoin are still not known, this only adds to the popularity of the first cryptocurrency.
