The BitMEX Co-Founder Surrendered For Prosecution
On Monday, Ben Delo, the co-founder of BitMEX crypto exchange, was accused of violation of banking secrecy. At the remote court hearing he insisted on being innocent. He got out for a bail of $20 millions until the next hearing scheduled for May.
Together with the other founders, Arthur Hayes and Samuel Reed, Delo was accused of conspiracy BSA violation back in September, 2020 by U.S. Department of Justice and Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
According to BSA, financial institutions are obliged to inform the regulators about the deals of more than $10,000. This is considered to work as a prevention of laundering the big amounts of money in banks and other institutions.
