Tesla Sells Merch for DOGE
Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that Tesla is now accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) as a payment for the company’s products.
Tesla’s merch can be purchased from the official store by sending DOGE to the Tesla Dogecoin wallet. However, this is the only cryptocurrency that the company accepts.
The firm warned that any other non-Dogecoin digital assets sent to the company are non-refundable. In addition, items purchased with DOGE cannot be returned or exchanged.
Dogecoin creator Billy Markus immediately responded to the announcement, rallying the Dogecoin community:
“Alright Dogecoin community, you know what to do,” Markus tweeted.
The community was not long in coming, and some users even boasted that they had already purchased Tesla x DOGE products.
When Tesla confirmed a month ago that it was going to start accepting DOGE for merchandise purchases, the price of the meme coin jumped 25%. This time, just a few hours after the introduction of DOGE payments, the price of the asset increased by 18.63%.
By the way, the Dogecoin Foundation, together with Ethereum’s founder Vitalik Buterin, are working on the development of a staking mechanism for Dogecoin.
