Sotheby’s Metaverse Will Host NFT’s Largest Charity Auction

The auction house Sotheby’s, in partnership with public health advocate and non-profit organization Sostento, will auction its latest NFT collection through Sotheby’s Metaverse.

According to the announcement, the auction, titled “Gifted: The 140 Collection,” will be the largest NFT charity auction in Sotheby’s history. And all the proceeds will be sent to Sostento.

Seven of the 140 NFTs that have been raffled off Twitter followers in the past are up for auction. The winners of the draw were later called “The Besties”.

Now, seven of the Besties have decided to sell their NFTs to support Sostento’s cutting edge healthcare workers in their efforts to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic and the opioid overdose crisis.

According to Joe Agoada, CEO of Sostento, the proceeds from this sale will be handled by a charitable block before they are “invested directly in a mission to help frontline healthcare workers save lives.”

Earlier, the auction house Sotheby’s held an auction of works by the world-famous street artist Banksy on November 18 and accepted online bets in Ethereum (ETH).
