Russia Yesterday, Hungary Today? New Proposal to Ban Cryptocurrencies
As soon as the tough situation settled down in Russia with a possible ban on cryptocurrencies proposed by the Central Bank, the Hungarian central bank decided to pick up the baton and also announced that cryptocurrencies should be banned.
György Matolci, head of the Central Bank of Hungary, was inspired by the examples of China and Russia and described digital assets as a field where illegal activities and financial bubbles can flourish.
Matolci expects the support of EU regulators in the fight against financial crimes. He believes that the digital assets of Hungarian citizens who do not live on its territory should be carefully monitored.
