Russia May Ban the Use of VPN Services

In Russia, they may prohibit the use of VPN services that allow you to bypass the blocking of resources prohibited in the Russian Federation.

According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by Andrey Klishas, Head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation. According to him, the ban on such resources is possible, but there will be no responsibility of citizens for their use.

The head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, Alexander Khinshtein, said that the initiative to limit the use of VPN services is not currently being developed.

Russia recently banned the use of Facebook and Instagram, after which the use of VPN services increased by 2088%.

The decision to ban the Meta platforms in Russia came after the company allowed users in Ukraine to publish messages wishing death to the Russian occupiers, Russian President Putin and usurper of power in Belarus Lukashenka. Perhaps this decision was made in order to limit the access of Russians to truthful information about the war in Ukraine.

The BTC-Alpha team together with trusted volunteer communities created a charity fund ‘‘Alpha for Ukraine’. You can make a donation to help everyone in Ukraine who needs medicines, humanitarian aid and to support the defence of the country.
