Panamanian President Partially Vetoes Crypto Bill

Panamanian President Laurentino Cartiso partially vetoed a bill to regulate digital assets, which Congress passed in late April 2022.

According to Cointelegraph, the President of Panama noted that the law must comply with the standards of the International Group on Combating Dirty Money Laundering (FATF). He demanded to finalize the bill in terms of compliance with the financial rules of the country.

Congressman Gabriel Silva, co-sponsor of the bill, tweeted that the veto had squandered the country’s opportunity to create new jobs, attract investment, introduce new technologies and innovate in the public sector.

He also added that Congress will study the issue and make the necessary changes soon.
