NYSE Registers a Trademark for NFT Marketplace
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) filed an application for a trademark of nonfungible token (NFT) marketplace and virtual goods.
According to The Block, the statement said that the trademark is required for a future marketplace for downloadable digital goods authenticated using NFT, as well as virtual and digital assets, works of art, collections and nonfungible tokens.
The Block emphasized that the announcement does not necessarily reflect the desire of the stock exchange to launch an NFT marketplace.
In April 2021, the NYSE released an NFT collection of shares of several companies on CryptoCom. The list includes Spotify, food delivery service DoorDash, Snowflake, Unity3D, online gaming platform Roblox, and Coupang, the biggest US IPO of the year.
