LG Electronics Sets Its Sights on Blockchain and Cryptocurrency
South Korean tech giant LG Electronics recently updated its corporate charter to include blockchain and cryptocurrency as new lines of business.
According to the Korea JoongAng Daily, LG added new cryptocurrency-related directions at its AGM on Thursday, March 24. It is planned to develop and sell blockchain-based software, as well as sell and broker operations with cryptocurrency.
The representative of LG company added that while there are no specific plans, this is only a preliminary formulation of business development goals.
Prior to this, LG partnered with blockchain technology company Kakao Ground X to introduce its full NFT-enabled smart TV lineup. In addition, the company enlisted the support of Seoul Auction Blue, an online art auction, for further NFT-based art projects.
Earlier this year, South Korean tech giant Samsung announced that it would be launching an NFT platform for its smart TVs, as well as opening its own store in the Decentraland metaverse.
