JPMorgan Developed a Solution to Protect the Blockchain From Quantum Computing

Financial conglomerate JPMorgan, together with Toshiba Corporation and telecommunications company Ciena, have developed a solution to protect critical nodes of the blockchain infrastructure from quantum computing.

Protection consists in the use of technology of quantum distribution of keys (Quantum Key Distribution, QKD). It is a key transfer method that uses quantum phenomena to guarantee secure communications.

According to the press release, the developed solution is resistant to potential quantum computing attacks and is capable of providing data transfer rates up to 800 Gbps. The QKD network in the form of an optical channel was deployed on top of the Liink corporate blockchain.
