In Ukraine, Monobank Users Will Be Able to Buy and Sell Cryptocurrencies Using a Debit Card
Co-founder of Ukrainian bank Monobank Oleg Gorokhovsky said that the institution has completed the integration with a crypto exchange in order to provide an opportunity for the bank users to buy and sell Bitcoins using a debit card.
Unfortunately, Gorokhovsky did not reveal the name of the exchange, but added that the cards will be launched in July. So far, the bank is waiting for the decision of the National Bank of Ukraine regarding this project.
The process of integration with a mobile operator using an electronic sim-card, e-sim, is also being completed, which makes it possible to abandon the physical analogue.
Monobank was founded in 2017, and as of July 2021, the bank has a client base of over 3.8 million people.
While Ukraine is just building a regulatory framework related to cryptocurrencies, the country is trying to keep up with the latest financial trend. Most recently, at the auction held by real estate agency Propy an apartment in Kyiv was sold for 36 ETH ($93,000 according to the relevant rate at the time of the deal)
