Hacker Stole Above $100 Million From Harmony

An unknown hacker attacked the Horizon cross-chain bridge and stole approximately $110 million in various cryptocurrencies from the Harmony blockchain platform.

According to the platform team, after the hack was discovered the bridge was suspended to prevent further transactions.

The hacker withdrew the stolen tokens through several transactions to another wallet and exchanged them on the Uniswap decentralized exchange.

The Horizon cross-chain bridge connects the Harmony blockchain with the Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance Chain networks.

According to the conclusions of Certik analysts, the hacker gained access to the multi-signature wallet through an unknown method, which allowed him to withdraw ETH, USDC, WBTC, USDT, DAI, BUSD, AAG, FXS, SUSHI, AAVE, WETH and FRAX tokens from the bridge. Experts identified more than 12 transactions and 3 attack addresses.

Representatives of Harmony added that they turned to law enforcement agencies, which have already launched an investigation into the hack.

Previously, a hacker exploited a vulnerability in the Mirror DeFi protocol based on Terra and withdrew more than $90 million.
