Hacker Stole About $3M From Deus Finance DAO

The hacker successfully attacked the Deus Finance DAO DeFi protocol and was able to withdraw, according to preliminary estimates, about $3 million, including 200,000 DAI and 1101.8 ETH.

The Deus Finance team confirmed the exploit but assured users’ funds were safe and promised to reveal the details of the incident at a later date.

According to PeckShield experts, the project’s losses could be much greater. The hacker used instant loans to attack by manipulating an oracle that determines the price in the USDC/DEI pair.

The hacker sent funds in ETH to the Tornado Cash mixing service.

After the hack, the price of the DEUS protocol token almost halved, dropping heavily from above $400. At the time of writing, the price of the token has almost fully recovered, reaching $393.74.

Previously, hackers attacked the Solana-based Wormhole cross-chain protocol and withdrew 120,000 WETH from the project pool (more than $319 million at the time of writing).
