FSS Says the REvil Hacker Group Was Eliminated

The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) announced that it allegedly detained members of the REvil hacker group behind the distribution of ransomware.

According to the intelligence service, after searches at 25 addresses, 14 REvil members were detained, from whom more than 426 million rubles were seized, including in cryptocurrency, $600,000 and €500,000, as well as 20 premium cars.

In addition, the FSB gained access to computers and crypto wallets associated with the activities of REvil.

The FSB claims that, thanks to the information from the US intelligence services about the whereabouts of the leader of the group, they established the full composition of REvil, and it was eliminated.

It was this group of Russian hackers called REvil who hacked the networks of about 200 American companies and demanded $70 million in Bitcoins for restoration.
