El Salvador Bought Bitcoins For a Black Friday Price
Recent news from Africa about a newly found COVID-19 variant from South Africa caused the panic on the crypto market that came together with Black Friday all over the world. This resulted in a drop of Bitcoin’s price.
After its all-time high of $69,000 it soared down to $54,343. El Salvador’s President, Nayib Bukele, didn’t waste the time and bought the dip with the 20% off as if it was a Black Friday sale. He bought 100 BTC and tweeted about it gladly.
El Salvador is the first world’s country that adopted Bitcoin as their national currency. Bukele is full of initiatives and ideas about building an infrastructure around cryptocurrency but people seem not to be happy about them. There were protests and demonstrations against Bitcoin law that resulted in the destruction of the Chivo kiosk (Chivo is the state-issued Bitcoin wallet).
