El Salvador bought 21 Bitcoins celebrating 12/21/21
The government of El Salvador bought 21 Bitcoins, marking December 21, 2021, as well as a limited total Bitcoin supply of 21 million coins.
According to President Naib Bukele, El Salvador’s latest investment in BTC at the time of writing was around $1,036,000. He said that in this way the decision was made to mark “the last 21st day of the 21st year of the 21st century” and to mark a Bitcoin deficit of 21 million BTC.
The President also noted that the total area of El Salvador is about 21,041 square kilometres.
Bitcoin was trading slightly above $49,000 at the time of purchase, according to CoinGecko.
In El Salvador, Bitcoin purchases are increasingly associated with significant dates after the government bought the first 200 BTC in early September, following the adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender on September 7th.
And on November 26, El Salvador celebrated Black Friday by buying 100 BTC for about $54,000 per BTC, accumulating a total of 1,220 BTC.
