Dogecoin Received A Massive Update

The developers of the Dogecoin (DOGE) project released an update to the core software that has improved the security, efficiency, and user interface of the network.

The Dogecoin Core 1.14.6 update was launched early in the morning on July 20th and all network members were strongly encouraged to upgrade to the latest version.

In addition to significant changes to improve security, the payment structure and the addition of several new features, the update includes: limiting the number of addnodes to 800 and reducing dust limits for all network members from 1 DOGE to 0.01 DOGE. In addition, memory management has been improved in case of network congestion. And erroneous messages will no longer be a problem, as the network will now be able to reject them.

Dogecoin Core developer Patrick Lodder wrote in a Github document:

“This is a new minor version release, including important security updates and changes to network efficiency. All Dogecoin Core users – miners, services, relay operators and wallet users – are strongly recommended to upgrade.”
