DC Comics Doesn’t Allow Freelancers to Feature Their IP on NFT Auctions

The oldest comics company, DC Comics, considers the adoption of the NFT technology in the future. In their letter, they described their plans as exploring the new opportunities. They also mentioned that they don’t want freelancers to create characters owned by DC-Comics in NFTs.

The letter says that they explore the options of distributing and selling both their new digital art and the pieces published before as NFTs. If DC staffers and freelancers want to create NFTs featuring company’s licensed material, they need to contact them first.

This announcement was made after a recent sale of the NFT collection featuring Wonder Woman via Makersplace. The company is clearly not pleased by this move. They reassure that any changes towards adopting the NFT technologies by DC Comics will be publicly announced.
