Coinbase Intends to Provide Customers With the Ability to Trade Crypto Futures
US cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase intends to obtain the permission to trade cryptocurrency commodity futures.
According to the website of the National Futures Association (NFA), the exchange filed an application on September 15.
Coinbase tweeted that in this way, the exchange intends to expand its offering and provide the ability to trade futures and derivatives on its platforms.
If Coinbase becomes a registered futures commission (FCM) seller under the NFA, the firm will have to register with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission to receive the green light for the relevant trade.
Hopefully, Coinbase gets approval to trade futures and derivatives, and the exchange’s plans do not fall apart like its lending project when the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) threatened to sue the company if it completes its launch.
