Binance Blocks Several Accounts of Relatives of Kremlin Officials

The Binance exchange blocked several accounts that belong to relatives of high-ranking Kremlin officials, according to Bloomberg.

The exchange blocked the accounts of the stepdaughter of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov – Polina Kovaleva, the daughter of the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov – Elizaveta Peskova, as well as the son of the tycoon, who is under OFAC sanctions, Konstantin Malofeev – Kirill Malofeev.

According to a Binance representative, Elizaveta Peskova’s account was blocked on March 3 while trying to connect through a third-party broker. And a week after that, her name appeared on the sanctions list of the US Department of the Treasury.

Polina Kovaleva’s account was closed on March 24 when her name was added to the UK sanctions list. And Kiril Malofeev, whom the US Treasury included in the sanctions list on April 20, was blocked by the Binance exchange in the week after April 25.

Representatives of the exchange also said that they will continue to look for users associated with individuals from the US and EU sanctions list.

On February 24, Russia carried out a paramilitary invasion of Ukraine on several fronts, shelling Kharkiv, Kyiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia and other cities of various calibres.

The Ukrainian army is holding back the invasion of the enemy. From the hottest spots, the civilian population is trying to evacuate to other cities or even countries.

The world community organized to help the refugees and the Ukrainian army and imposed strict sanctions against Russia.

The BTC-Alpha team together with trusted volunteer communities created a charity fund ‘Alpha for Ukraine’. You can make a donation to help everyone in Ukraine who needs medicines, humanitarian aid and to support the defence of the country.
