Amazon plans to start accepting Bitcoin payments
Amazon, the largest e-commerce platform company, plans to start accepting Bitcoin payments by the end of the year.
According to City A.M., the company also plans to add other cryptocurrencies to the payment system later.
An anonymous source told the City A.M. that the company’s management is very interested in adding cryptocurrency payments to the platform, and the addition of Bitcoin payments is just the first step to ensure the successful future of the company.
In addition, the company is exploring the possibility of creating and launching its own cryptocurrency by 2022.
For several days now, the company created a new position “Leading specialist in digital currency and blockchain products”. The new employee will have to develop a strategy for Amazon’s digital currency and lead its adoption.
Amazon isn’t the only giant company heading towards digital currency integration. For example, global PC gaming equipment manufacturer Razer is also considering accepting cryptocurrency payments.
