Adidas Sold Thousands of NFTs for $22 Million

Sporting goods company Adidas teamed up with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punks Comics and Gmoney to create an NFT collection called Into the Metaverse.

According to The Verge, a total of 30,000 NFTs have been created, 280 of which have been reserved for future events. Within the framework of the promotion, 29 620 NFTs were sold at a price of 0.2 ETH each, or about 765 each. So, Adidas earned about $22 million on this sale of non-fungible tokens.

By purchasing the token, the buyer gets access to special products from the Adidas series – a sweatshirt and tracksuit, as well as some digital services. However, the new exclusive collection of clothing will only be shipped for sales in 2022. Thus, the token buyers made expensive pre-orders for the clothes.

The first 20,000 NFTs were released in Limited Early Access for token holders Adidas Originals and Gmoney, as well as Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT, Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT and Pixel Vault NFT.

Earlier, the British telecommunications giant Vodafone announced its intention to auction the world’s first SMS in the NFT format.
